Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

Required Skills and Knowledge

The candidate must demonstrate the ability to complete the tasks outlined in the elements, performance criteria and foundation skills of this unit, including evidence of the ability to:

comply with site work processes and procedures on at least two occasions, including:

planning and completing tasks to achieve agreed outcomes

adjusting performance requirements to comply with processes and procedures

monitoring and recommending changes to overcome non-compliance with site procedures and standards

reporting the non-compliance of processes and procedures to supervisors

applying risk management processes to minimise injury and reporting immediately to the supervisor

completing required site documentation and reports.

During the above, the candidate must:

locate and apply relevant documentation, policies and procedures and confirm that the work activity is compliant

implement the requirements, procedures and techniques required to comply with site work processes and procedures

works with others to comply with site work processes and procedures

communicate with others to receive and clarify work instructions and to determine coordination requirements prior to commencing and during work activities.
